Another event in Manassas has much deeper roots than would appear on the surface. In October each year, the Fall Jubilee is held. The jubilee has its origins in 1911, fifty years after the First Battle of Manassas, when a Peace Jubilee was held in the town and on the battlefield. War veterans came from across the country to meet on the battlefield and shake hands with former opponents. Pres. William Howard Taft commemorated the occasion with an appearance and speech.
